BAroCK to the Future

BAroCK to the Future is a theatrical concert project by Music Will Save The World, created by Anna Starushkevych, in which Baroque music enters into dialogue with the present day. The musicians become an integral part of the stage action, while music, costume, dramaturgy, lighting and visual storytelling come together to create a unified theatrical experience centred on the project's guiding idea: "Times change — people don't."
A special place in the programme is reserved for a commission by Music Will Save The World — two premieres of Ukrainian Neo-Baroque music by composers Maksym Ivanov and Yurii Pikush, setting poetry by Oksana Rubaniak, commander of the Second Company of Strike Aerial Systems in the Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Mezzo-soprano Anna Starushkevych will be joined on stage by the early music ensemble Leopolis 415, under the artistic direction of Serhii Havryliuk.
For Anna Starushkevych and Music Will Save The World, it is fundamentally important that art reflects the times in which it is created. This is why, in this project, the musical language of the Baroque encounters the voices of contemporary Ukraine — those of young Ukrainian composers and a warrior-poet whose words lend the new music a particular urgency and authenticity. The result is a living connection between the music of the past, contemporary Ukraine and the human experience of today.
