Penelope. Seven Ways To Wait
Penelope. Seven Ways To Wait is a contemporary operatic work for mezzo-soprano, female chorus and orchestra by Kristina Arakelyan and Helen Eastman.
Commissioned by Music Will Save The World, the orchestral world premiere of the work was directed and executive produced by our founder Anna Starushkevych, who also premiered the principal role at the Ivano-Frankivsk Philharmonic on 22 August 2025.
Created and staged in wartime Ukraine within just 21 days and under severely limited human and instrumental resources, the production explores an unorthodox format for this contemporary operatic work, delving into different ways of waiting across human experiences, some of which are based on real events.
