InParallel Projects

InParallel is a space for artistic collaborations that transcend boundaries. This project showcases creative initiatives with artists from diverse styles—projects that may not fit within MWSTW’s three main pillars (Opera is Us, Ambient Vibrations, and Music, Emotions, and Science interviews) but remain deeply aligned with our mission: to create meaningful and transformative artistic experiences.

Through InParallel, we embrace the unexpected, celebrate artistic fusion, and open new pathways for collaboration—because music and art, in all their forms, have the power to connect, heal, and inspire.

Penelope. Seven Ways To Wait — World Premiere

On 22 August 2025, Music Will Save The World proudly presented the world premiere of Penelope. Seven Ways To Wait — a one-act opera composed by Kristina Arakelyan with a libretto by Helen Eastman, performed at the Ivano-Frankivsk Philharmonic (Ukraine) as part of Philharmonic Evenings II: British Edition 2025.

This new, fully orchestrated version was commissioned by Music Will Save The World, expanding the original piano song cycle into a vivid, cinematic sound world. The work reimagines the ancient myth of Penelope — the woman who waited — through seven emotional states of waiting, each portrayed in a distinct musical and psychological landscape.

The premiere marks not only the culmination of a powerful creative collaboration between Arakelyan, Eastman, and Anna Starushkevych, but also the beginning of Penelope’s wider journey, with plans for future performances and interdisciplinary partnerships already taking shape.

Directed and performed by MWSTW’s founder, Anna Starushkevych, the production was brought to life with deep artistic integrity. The premiere was professionally recorded, and we look forward to sharing this beautiful performance with audiences worldwide very soon.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Wolfgang P. and friend, and O.A. for their generous support, which made this commission and world premiere possible.

MiStar

MiStar is singer Anna Starushkevych and composer Mike Scialom. Their collaboration emerged following the 2024 launch of the film Magura, produced for the Music Will Save The World.

Magura depicts the effect on loved ones when a soldier in Ukraine is missing in action. Taking this sense of loss in war as a starting point for a new song, 'Lament by the Unknown Soldier', the duo set out to entrance the world with a tale of profound mystery and beauty.

It was just a misty morning
Far away at sea
I wondered if you’d ever
Be coming home to me

And in the furthest distance
Floating in the breeze
I saw no life forsaken
And fell down to my knees

Do you believe in right and wrong, right and wrong, right and wrong?

Browsing at the station
Looking for the news
Now longing’s back in fashion
‘N y’all can sing the blues

And in the purple twilight
Whatever should I see?
All the dreams I’d hoped for
Washed back up to me

Do you believe in right and wrong, right and wrong, right and wrong?

It’s everything you wanted
As far as the eye can see
And I will never mention
The land where we were free

And in the everafter
They sing a different tune
'Cos we are dancing hand in hand
Under a silver moon

I do believe in right and wrong, right and wrong, right and wrong
I do believe in right and wrong, right and wrong, right and wrong
It was just a misty morning, just a misty morning….
